Piljoon's Gifts is a children's picture book inspired by the natural scenery and traditional folk religion of Jeju, an island between Korea and Japan.
As young Piljoon celebrates the arrival of his tenth spring, it's time for new knowledge and responsibilities, including how to honor the local spirits. Are there really spirits in the forests and caves? Piljoon isn't so sure. This forms the central mystery of the story. With several different interpretations possible, the creators hope that parents and teachers will discuss this mystery and related themes with young readers.
The story is presented in both English and Korean, with professional editorial oversight for both languages.
